Individual classes by professor Carsten Eckert for adults and children – students, teachers, amateurs – in Russian, German or English.

Carsten Eckert is a professor at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, previously he taught at the Bern College of Arts (Switzerland), the State Higher School of Music in Trossingen (Germany). Professor was a lecturer at the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (Poland), Berlin University of Arts, National Music Academy named by P. Tchaikovsky (Ukraine), Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (Russia), etc.

Carsten Eckert’s career is characterized by a constant “wandering” between historical performance and the music of XX and XXI centuries. He serves music with equal enthusiasm both as a performer and as a teacher. Karsten Eckert was a Fellow of the Berlin Senate, the Berlin Käthe-Dorsch Foundation, winner of the Nicati contemporary music competition, etc. After studying at the Berlin University of the Arts under the direction of Gerd Lünenbürger and Christoph Huntburt and at the Higher School of Art in Amsterdam with Walter van Houve, he continued his artistic activity studying with Dieter Schnebel, John Eliot Gardiner, Frans Bruggen, at the electroacoustic studio of the Berlin University of the Arts.

Carsten Eckert has given concerts in many cities in Europe, Asia, North and South America at different places as the Berlin Philarmonic, the Theater an der Wien, the National Philarmonic of Ukraine and others. He performs with his ensemble «THEATRE OF THE EARS».

Carsten Eckert is a participant in numerous festivals of ancient and modern music. He performed with a lot of ensembles: Swiss Baroque Soloists, Il pomo d’Oro, Il Complesso Barocco, Ensemble Oriol Berlin, Berlin Academy of Early Music, with the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra, as well as with Camerata Bern, Bach-Consort (Moscow), Kiev Soloists and others. In recent years, he has repeatedly toured the countries of Eastern Europe and Asia, in particular in China and Moscow.

Creative collaborations link him with inspiring musicians such as Peter Wispelway, Malcolm Minazi, John Holloway, Andre Gabetta, Gottfried von der Goltz, Barbara Hannigan, Sebastian Winand, Alexandra Koreneva, Walter Van Howeand Kees Bike, as well as composers Maurizio Pisati and Richard Rinvus.

In recent years, Karsten Eckert increasingly acts as an artistic director and conductor. Among such projects are the highly acclaimed by the audience and the press, the production of Handel’s baroque opera “Julius Caesar in Egypt” in Bern, Biel amd Zurich, excerpts from the opera by Ramo “Plateya” and others.

Karsten Eckert’s classes are devoted to the specifics of playing the recorder as musical instrument for historical and contemporary performance:

  • building an internal sound / air channel in the larynx,
  • specific language positioning and intonation control,
  • settings of hands and fingers,
  • increasing the speed of playing,
  • articulations,
  • understanding the peculiarities of your musical instrument: working with sound and alternative fingering,
  • regulation of breathing, strength of the sound,
  • basic exercises to maintain the working level of playing,
  • techniques of ensemble work on recorders,
  • stylistic features of the performance of baroque music, technical features of the performance of modern music for recorders.

Prices are indicated without taking into account the mandatory entry fee of 3 000 rubles.

The minimum amount for participation in Carsten Eckert’s Recorder Workshop hasn’t been set.
