Nikolai Martynov accompanies individual master classes (basso continuo) within the framework of the Moscow Gnessin Baroque Academy

Nikolai Martynov is a harpsichordist, pianist and historical piano player. He graduated from the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music (piano, class of T. Vorobyeva), then continued his studies at the Historical and Contemporary Performing Arts Faculty of the Moscow Conservatory with Y. Katsnelson (piano), O. Martynova (harpsichord), A. Lyubimov (hammerclavier). He received his master’s degree as a historical piano player at the Amsterdam Conservatory (class of O. Paschenko).

Nikolai Martynov performed in the concert halls of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, as well as in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Bialystok. He collaborates with the baroque orchestra Pratum Integrum, ensembles L’esprit du Vent and Les Moscovites. Nikolai’s repertoire includes music of various genres from the Baroque era to the present days: basso continuo parts in baroque cantatas and operas, works for solo harpsichord, sonatas and trios by Haydn and Beethoven, rarely performed works for piano by J. L. Dusik, J. N. Hummel, K. M. von Weber, solo and chamber music by F. Mendelssohn, R. Schumann, J. Brahms, K. Debussy, S. Rachmaninoff, as well as individual works by E. Denisov, F. Glass, D. Lang, T. Hosokawa. The musician prefers to perform baroque, classicism and early romanticism music on instruments corresponding to the era of a particular work.
